Frequently Asked Questions?
Q.) Can I sand the floor myself as a DIY project?
A.) Floor Sanding is hard and back breaking work, without the right experience and know how the end results may not be great.
Q.) Can I hire a floor sanding machine and do it myself?
A.) Be warned there are hidden charges from the local hire shops and the sandpaper is expensive, by the time you have hired the equipment and purchased the varnish you might not be saving as much as you first think plus it will take up your entire weekend.
Q.) Some of our floor boards are loose can they be fixed or refitted?
A.) All loose boards should be secured, nails countersunk or if necessary replaced.
Q.) Is the machinery noisy?
A.) The Floor Sanding Machines that we use sound like a heavy duty vacuum cleaner.
Q.) How long will it take?
A.) Depending on the size of the project we usually aim to complete most work within one working day.
Q.) Can we walk on it straight away?
A.) More often than not we use water based finishes with fast drying times, effectively most rooms can be used again after approximately 3 hours of drying.
Q.) Will the floor look like brand new?
A.) Depending on the type of wood for instance an Old Victorian Pine Floor will always look aged but we believe that that is more of a positive than a negative and keeps with the character and period of the property.
Q.) Do we decorate the room before floor sanding or after?
A.) We recommend that most of the decorating is carried out before the floors are sanded but that would be your own choice.
